About the role:

As our Resident Engineer you will be Angel Trains’ lead representative on site with the new operator and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) as the Class 175 units are returned from storage (RFS) to their new depot and subsequent passenger service later this year. You will provide technical support to the new operator during the RFS programme as well as coordinating any contracted enhancement or modification programmes.

Due to the nature of the role, it will predominately be based on-site at the Class 175s new home in Plymouth as well as the enhancement provider in Wolverton but a willingness to travel to other supplier/OEM sites and Angel Trains’ as required will be necessary.

What will you be doing?

  • Working closely with internal customer account team colleagues to answer technical queries from the operator surrounding RFS and enhancement programmes, assisting with problem solving as required.
  • Support the new operator and OEM with the fleets introduction by leading or assisting with technical investigations.
  • Assisting Angel Trains’ Field Engineers with asset delivery inspections.
  • Raise Engineering Changes to document any specification and/or design changes to the assets. Resolve any queries and ensure all interested parties can accept the Engineering Change.

What do we need from you?

  • Prior experience working with passenger rail vehicles (ideally from the Coradia asset family) within a depot/maintenance facility environment.
  • The ability to answer technical queries to a high standard as well as working knowledge of engineering changes.
  • Prior experience managing and influencing stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
  • A willingness to travel to customer, OEM, supplier or Angel Trains sites as required, on a regular basis.
