Angel Trains Rail People Real Expertise

Due to ongoing business growth, and a desire to increase the number of early careers roles available with the rail sector, we are looking for a self-motivated and numerically minded finance graduate to join us from September 2025.

About the role:

The successful candidates will enrol on an intensive 3-year Level 7 Accountancy Professional apprenticeship scheme, equivalent to a master’s degree. Throughout the scheme you will complete numerous placements with our different internal finance functions ranging from accounts payable, tax and accounting to treasury and financial modelling. You will also spend 20% of your time with a dedicated training provider (BPP) to learn specialised technical knowledge. Successful completion of the scheme will lead to you taking up a substantive role within our finance department.

As an Authorised Training Employer this scheme is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) and leads you to gaining your Associate Chartered Accountant qualification. Throughout the three years you will be supported by experienced professionals within the business, who will help guide your pathway towards professional registration and accreditation as a Chartered Accountant.

What will you be doing?

Due to the nature of the scheme objectives and responsibilities will vary considerably between all placements but your primary responsibility will be to rotate through the different placements whilst gaining practical experience and skills. Each placement is specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of individual graduates and give a clear overview of each of our financial functions. Clear responsibilities are outlined before the commencement of each placement, aligning with various competency requirements defined by the ICAEW.

What do we need from you?

  • Expected or achieved graduation by 2025 with a degree in Accounting & Finance or Maths. (Other relevant subject areas may be considered on a case-by-case basis).
  • High levels of numeracy, attention to detail and data manipulation/analytics skills.
  • Flexible, innovative and agile approaches to problem solving, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
