About the role

We are recruiting for a Fleet Engineer to be based in the London or Derby office on a two year Fixed Term Contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to join Angel Trains and work on some of our ex British Rail diesel multiple unit fleets. The successful candidate will become the technical expert for their fleets and will be responsible for ensuring the performance, utility and condition of the assets is optimised in a cost-effective manner throughout their lifecycle, whilst being underpinned by diligent safety management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Become the technical expert for the relevant fleets and take ownership of all technical aspects of the fleet.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers leading to effective collaboration.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of fleet performance and drive improvements in conjunction with the operator and maintainer.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of how the fleet is operated and maintained and seek to make improvements.
  • Decision-making based on consideration of the full lifecycle of the fleet.
  • Ensure that all changes to the assets are thoroughly reviewed as part of Angel Trains’ engineering change process.
  • Ensuring all safety incidents are investigated appropriately.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An engineering degree or the equivalent to be demonstrated through relevant engineering experience.
  • Ideally, the applicant shall be a chartered member of the IET, IMechE, or similar professional body, or working towards this status.
  • Relevant railway industry experience.
